Pastoral Support Lead

Pastoral Support Lead

Evolve Music are seeking someone with experience of working with young people with additional needs to support our Community Music Practitioners to deliver the Sound Lab project.

Contract:Fixed Term

Hours: 40 x 2.5 hour sessions delivered twice per month to April 2022

Salary: £1000 (£25 per session)

Location of work: Radstock

Evolve Music is a community music charity based in Somerset. Evolve Music delivers accessible music-making activities to communities across the South West, and professional development opportunities for community music practitioners at all stages of their career.
Following a successful application to Youth Music, Evolve Music is now seeking two community practitioners to join our team to lead on the delivery of Sound Lab.

Sound Lab is a new two year project for 11- 18 years olds in the Somer Valley Area who have additional learning needs. Working in partnership with Somerset schools & charities (Critchill School (Frome), Fosseway (Peasedown St. John), Three Ways School (Bath) & Swallow (Radstock)) Sound Lab will deliver fortnightly workshops that enable young people to explore music through performance, technology and composition.


Successful applicants will have: excellent interpersonal skills,
practical experience of supporting young people with additional learning needs, both in group and ‘one-on-one’ settings and the ability to build effective relationships with participants.


Due to the rural location of this project access to a vehicle/transport is essential.

Evolve Music is seeking 2 experienced Community Music Practitioners to co-deliver our Sound Lab project for young people with additional learning needs.

Contract:Fixed Term 2-year contract, freelance

Hours: 40 x 2-hour sessions delivered twice per month

Salary: £4000 (£100 per session) + travel expenses

Location of work: Radstock

Successful applicants will have: excellent musical skills on one or multiple instruments (including piano or guitar)improvisation & composition skillsexcellent communication skillsthe ability to play from memoryexperience of working with young people with additional learning needs and/or with community groups in community settings
